Movember Is Here!

November 2, 2017

Dear Monster Makers!

For the month of November, the Hook A Monster team are very excited about raising money for Movember.

The Movember Foundation address the urgent issue of men’s health and aim to reduce premature deaths in men. In their own words, “the state of men’s health is in crisis. Men experience worse longer-term health than women and die on average six years earlier. Three quarters of suicides are men. Poor mental health leads to half a million men taking their own life every year”. They are helping educate men, design services that work and influencing the local and national government policies. Click here for more information.

This year, millions of men across the world are going to grow a moustache to raise awareness of the importance of men’s health and to inspire donations, conversations and real change. “Grow a Mo, Save a Bro” – what an awesome cause!  We’re particularly passionate about raising awareness about mental health for all!

So, what is Hook A Monster doing to help? Well as you know, the three ladies of Hook A Monster can’t raise money by growing out our facial hair for the month. Not to be defeated, we’ve hatched a cunning plan! We are making wearable crochet moustaches instead, and we want YOU to help.

We would love our Hook A Monster graduates and the lovely people of the crafts community to make as many moustaches as possible to give out in return for donations.

We are suggesting a donation of £5 per tache. Upload your donations to our Mobro fundraising page to help us reach our goal of £200!

You can find our FREE Hook A Monster moustache pattern at the bottom of the page.  It uses single crochets only so perfect for all levels.  Share pictures of the moustaches you make on Instagram and Twitter with #movember #hookamonster or tag us in @hook_a_monster.  Together we can “inspire donations, conversations and real change”!
